Get Involved · Volunteer

Show up ready.
We train you first.

Then you’ll see exactly what you’re certified for, what to refer, and what’s due — all inside the same system that runs the whole network. Not a service you qualify for. A network you join.

The path

From signing up to serving — three steps, in this order.

01
Sign up.

Tell us your skills and availability. No commitment yet — just what you actually have to offer.

02
Train.

Attend the sessions for the role you want. Every volunteer is paired with a mentor before any shadow shift.

03
Get placed.

You’ll see only what you’re certified for. When a case needs more, the system routes it — not you.

What you’d actually do

Five roles. Each one has a clear time commitment.

Have a skill that doesn’t fit one of those five?

We don’t only look for volunteers for tasks that already exist — we map the capacities already inside the community. Tell us what you can offer, and we’ll find where it fits. Here are some of the skills the network already uses:

Ways to help

Give an afternoon, a season, or a skill. There is a place for you.

Much of our work runs on volunteers, and we welcome help with clerical and administrative tasks as much as work on the front line. How many people we need at once depends on the week and on who is available to guide them.

Ongoing shifts

A regular slot with one of our lines of work: La Carpa on Saturdays, the clinic, food delivery, or clothing distribution. Best if you can commit to the same day for a few weeks.

Projects

Focused work with a start and an end, such as helping with a particular case file, a campaign, a document, or a translation.

One-time events

Trainings, community days, and special collections. Come once, see how we work, and decide if you want to stay.

Most of the families we meet speak Spanish, so fluent Spanish is especially welcome. If you speak another language besides English, we may also ask you to help translate outreach materials and messages to families. Fundraising events and special projects need hands too, and a passion for social and racial justice is the only thing you need to bring.

We can only take on as many volunteers as we can train and supervise well. That is how we protect the families we serve, and it is why we sometimes ask you to wait for the next training.

Tell us what you would like to do below. We will write when something fits.

No account needed

Raise your hand. We’ll take it from there.

Tell us a little about you. Someone from the network will reach out within a few days — a real person, not an autoresponder.

This isn’t an application. It doesn’t create a case file or touch any legal record. It just tells us you’d like to help, and how.

Court accompaniment and community watch come with a short orientation first.

Helps us know who can review legal work. Anyone can volunteer, with or without these.

We won’t share your information. This isn’t a case file — it’s just you saying you want to help.

Got it. We’ll be in touch.

Someone from the network will reach out within a few days. If you don’t hear from us, it’s not because we didn’t want you — it’s because we’re slow, and we’re honest about that.

Training sessions

Three sessions. Then you serve.

Add yourself to the calendar to get reminders. Every session is led by someone already doing the work.

Who we are, how the network runs, what we never ask, and what we always protect. Two hours.

Session 02
Role-specific training

Led by the coordinator of the line you chose. What you’ll see, what you’ll refer, what you’ll never do alone.

Shadow shift

You ride along with a mentor before you serve alone. Every role, every time. No exceptions.

What builds your certification

Your level isn’t a title. It’s what you’ve actually completed.

01

Course completion

You finished the sessions for the role you want. Logged, dated, verifiable.

02

Quiz scores

Every role has a short check — not to gate you, but to make sure you’ll never be handed something you weren’t ready for.

03

Hours served

Your hours in the field count toward your certification, and toward your Impact Units.

04

Partner endorsement

A coordinator from the line you served in confirms you’re ready for more. Nothing moves forward without that hand.

Impact Units

Hours that count, on the record.

Verified actions are scored with the PHREVO impact formula and become recognized social contribution. When you’re done, you have a record of what you built — not a certificate nobody checks.

Referral boundaries

You only see what you’re trained for.

Every task is training-gated. When a case needs more than you’re certified for, the system routes it to the right place — not to guesswork, and not to you.

Onboarding takes a few minutes. Training comes before any task.
